What We Mean When We Say We’re Busy

I used to think I was busy, and I used to think that made me important. The busier, the important-er I was. Or so I thought. When people stopped by my office, they'd apologize for taking my time. They told me they knew I was busy but they would make it quick. I find myself doing … Continue reading What We Mean When We Say We’re Busy

Feeling grateful for the artists who have the vision to gracefully create something so complicated, it looks simple. Just discovered @alina.fassakhova today, and loving how her pieces feel like they capture openness and possibility in a way I relate to. Always so much art I want to purchase - just realized I need a separate fund for it... 🤔 . . . . . . #maternalmentalhealth #perinatalmentalhealth #boymom #boymomlife #momlife #momsmatter #mothering #confidentmothering #emotionalintelligence #beautifulthings #relationships #authenticity #beautifulspaces #designmatters
Been thinking about scheduling a solo getaway/retreat since @katematsch and @thespringbreakfamily are doing it. Good peer pressure over there, ladies. 🙌🏼 I don’t remember the last time I did an overnight by myself away from everyone but it’s probably been a couple years. It’s a habit I started my first year after college when I felt totally overwhelmed with life and resentful of the expectations placed on me. It was helpful to get away, quiet down and actually hear what my real self thought, felt and wanted. What a gift. . . I found this little getaway magic from Portland, OR, from @sarahshireed today, and of course, I want this place to be my writer’s cabin now, but I would be open to an Airbnb off one of the lakes near my house. . . I know it’s so typical for an #Enneagram7 to want to get away. Like, what a cliché. But a solo getaway is far less a distraction and thrill ride and more of a realignment, an intentional and deeply uncomfortable act of slowing down to face the dark side, the pain, the disappointment...the stuff a 7 wants to avoid. But I am old enough and Catholic-influenced enough to know the stuff we avoid is usually what we need. . . Do you ever take solo trips? If so, what is your intention with this kind of travel? . . . . #maternalmentalhealth #perinatalmentalhealth #boymom #boymomlife #momlife #momsmatter #mothering #confidentmothering #coolmoms #traveljunkies #willworkforadventure #beautifulthings #relationships #authenticity #Enneagram7
